En mindre kronolägenhet innehades af en person med ett lysande namn jemte aktningsvärda egenskaper; han afled oförmodadt i sina bästa år och lemnade efter sig en enka, som blott behöfde visa sig, äfven i de yppersta sällskapskretsar, för att vinna allas odelade bifall.

For an honourable man of modest means there was certainly an opportunity here, through marriage to the widow, to provide mutual happiness, but for a man without means, even with the best will, this happiness would nevertheless sometimes be disturbed by concerns about domestic prosperity.
