Source and editorial method
This edition separates Lorentz Nordenadler’s own words from transcription, translation and editorial explanation. The scanned 1836 volume remains the authority.

Transcription
The Swedish transcription preserves original spelling, capitalization, punctuation, paragraphing, repetitions, names, ranks, dates and monetary notation wherever legible. Words split at ordinary line endings within a page are rejoined; fragments crossing a printed page boundary remain on their respective pages and are explained in editorial notes. OCR is corrected only after comparison with the page image.
An unreadable word is marked [illegible]. A doubtful reading is marked[uncertain: …] and explained in an editorial note. No uncertain source text is silently converted into confident prose.
English translation
Every substantive Swedish passage receives an English counterpart in source order. The translation stays as close as grammatical English permits to Lorentz’s wording, sequence, emphasis, repetitions, opinions and tone. It does not summarize, sanitize, embellish or silently modernize him.
Historical ranks, offices, currencies and institutions are translated closely. Where no exact English equivalent exists, the Swedish term or a short explanation is retained in a note rather than replaced with a misleading modern term.
What the notes mean
- Editorial note: a concise explanation supplied by the edition, not by Lorentz.
- Uncertain: the print or reading permits more than one interpretation.
- Swedish transcription: a page-verified rendering of the 1836 printed text.
- English translation: the close translation aligned with that Swedish passage.
Citing a passage
Cite Lorentz Nordenadler, the Swedish title, publication place and year, followed by the printed page number. Each reader page supplies both the printed page and corresponding PDF page.
