We had sailed out from Marseille with a storming northeast wind which, without falling calm or veering adversely, carried the ship to the latitude of Cape Trafalgar, when the wind shifted to the southeast while retaining its violence; but at the latitude of Cape St. Vincent the storm abated somewhat, the wind changed to southwest with a stiff topsail breeze and gradually to a full westerly storm, which rapidly carried us through the whole North Sea into the Kattegat.

Trafalgar, då vinden sprang på S.O. med bibehållande häftighet; men på höjden af C. St. Vincent lade sig stormen något, vinden förändrade sig till S.W. med styf märssegels kultje samt småningom till full vestlig storm, hvilken hastigt förde oss genom hela Nordsjön in i Kattegat.
